Need for Document Integrity Verification API Before Cloud Deletion

An important scenario we have encountered is document download and deletion after completion.

For some confidential agreements, customers need to download the completed documents, store them in their own local archive or internal system, and then delete the documents from Docusign to meet internal compliance, data-retention, or confidentiality requirements.

However, before deleting the cloud copy, customers need a reliable way to confirm that the downloaded files are complete, correct, and uncorrupted. This is a critical control point in the workflow because, once the documents are deleted from Docusign, there may be no recoverable copy available in the platform.

Currently, we have not found a dedicated Docusign API that provides a document integrity checksum, hash value, download validation result, or similar mechanism to verify that the downloaded documents exactly match the completed documents stored in Docusign before deletion.

For customers who follow a “download locally first, then delete from the cloud” process, this validation capability is very important. It would be very helpful if Docusign could provide an API-supported verification mechanism, such as a checksum/hash or document integrity validation API, to confirm the completeness and correctness of downloaded documents before deletion.
