I have been receiving reminders to sign a leasing document from an Apartment for nearly one year every week. I contacted them and they said they had done everything from their side but still did not work. How to address this problem?

Thanks.

Hello, @Cindy_39

Thanks for reaching out here in the Docusign Community—great to have you here! I completely understand the frustration these weekly reminders have caused over the past year. Don’t worry, we’ll do our best to help.

To stop these reminders immediately, the best resolution is to “Decline to sign” the document.

You can do this by following these steps:

1. Open the document from the most recent reminder email.

2. Select Other Actions in the top right corner of the window.
3. Click Decline to Sign.

By doing this, you are effectively “voiding” the digital envelope, which stops the automated notification loop. It will allow the system to stop requesting a signature.

You may refer to this link for more information:

Hi Luke,

I wanted to, but the envelope does not have the option of decline to sign. I believe this is the setting by the sender.

What can I do then? Thanks!

Hello, @Cindy_39

Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate your quick reply with this post.

To further investigate, would you be able to provide me with the following:

1. Envelope ID for the Envelope in question?
2. Screenshot of what appears on your end when you try to review and sign the document.

The Decline to Sign option is available to Envelope signers.

To locate the Envelope ID: Login to your Docusign account> Go to the Agreements tab > Inbox > Locate the Envelope > Click on 3 dots > Go to History > Locate the Envelope ID.

You can take a look at this link on how to locate an Envelope ID: Locate an Envelope ID.

You may send these to me via Private Message. This information will help us provide you with a precise and timely solution.

Thank you for your continued cooperation! Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello @Cindy_39

Thank you for providing us with the necessary information. Upon further investigation, it appears that the “Decline to sign” option is disabled by the sender’s account using a signing resource file, making the envelope required to be signed and completed on your end.

If we don’t want to complete the envelope, the most viable option for you is to reach out to the sender and advise them to manually void the envelope on their account.

To void the envelope, advise your sender to: Go to the Agreements tab > Inbox > Locate the envelope > Click on 3 dots > Void.

Void or cancel a Docusign envelope

In the future, you may also advise them to allow Decline to Sign option for their signers.
If they have advanced branding, they can edit the signing resource file. They should download the XML resource file for their brand, find the tag DocuSign_DeclineAllow, and change its value to false

I hope this helps clarify things! If you found this response helpful, feel free to give it a like or mark it as the best answer. Let us know if you have any further questions
