Hi!

I’m attempting to have the contact’s company be inserted dynamically into the email subject. We have the borrower’s name appearing fine, but the company isn’t populating, unfortunately.

So ideally, we would have it setup similar to (Loan Name) - (borrower’s name) - sborrower’s company].

On the document, there is a field for the recipient to input their company name which would then show on the email subject line.

I’ve attempted using a custom field and referencing in the subject line with both {{ }} and ot ]]. Could there be a syntax issue?

Hello @vivienneM,

Thank you for reaching out, and a warm welcome to the Docusign Community! We are absolutely delighted to have you here and can't wait to share our knowledge with you.

I understand you attempted to merge the contact’s company to be inserted dynamically into the email subject, but it is not populating. I sincerely apologize, and rest assured that I'll make my best effort to help you.

Can you please describe in step by step what process you did? Are you sending it from the Docusign website or an Integration? Are you trying to do Bulk Send? Meanwhile, if you mean merging the Document Custom field, this is not something the system can add to the email subject, only Envelope Custom Fields. It has to work as long as you have the Envelope Custom field. Article: Use Merge Fields in the Template Email Subject to Customize Envelopes

Also, you mentioned, "On the document, there is a field for the recipient to input their company name, which would then show on the email subject line.” The email subject was created at the moment the envelope was created. So before the recipient fills it out, an email with the subject has already been sent to recipients, and it will not update right after the recipient fills it out.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if I misunderstood your issue. I am here to help you and answer any other questions you might have. Thank you!
