Question

Format a date calculated by formula

I need to calculate and display a date 30 months from the date signed.

In my template, I have created a date signed field and called it policy_period_from.

I have created a formula field with the following formula: AddMonths( [policy_period_from] ,30)

This is displaying in numerical UK date format (dd/mm/yyyy) but we are sending this particular doc to our US customers so it either needs to be in US format (mm/dd/yyyy) or be in a format that can’t be misinterpreted in the US (e.g. dd MMM yyyy, i.e. 30 Nov 2026).

How can I achieve this?

Hi @ser60,

I hope you are doing well.

If you enable the option to Allow users to set their time zone, do you get the same error?

Best regards,

Hi @ser60,

I hope you are doing well.

Have you tried to change those settings to Account Default to confirm if the information displayed changes?

Hi Christopher, was this solved?

I have the same problem - went through the thread and followed your instructions but no results so far.

Hello @Clemente,

I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community.

Formulas for dates are currently fixed in the mm/dd/yyyy format. Other users have also raised this concern, so an enhancement request has been created.

Enhancement requests are about adding a new behaviour to a specific feature. For this reason, their implementation is not guaranteed, as it depends on final decisions from our product and design teams.

Should you require any additional assistance, feel free to reach out. Thank you!

Has this been resolved yet? I have same problem when using add days formula, everything set to local however the formula result is mm_dd/yyyy despite the date it's calculating against being dd/mm/yyyy and everything at admin being set for dd/yy/yyyy. Very odd.

Hello @Mike5162,

Thanks for reaching out to the Docusign Community!

There is already an enhancement request regarding the date format on formula fields.  However, at this time, there is no specific timeline for it’s implementation, nor is it confirmed whether it will be implemented.

We appreciate your understanding.
