Hello @Anop

Thank you for reaching out here in Docusign Community.

Regarding your question about whether approvers in DocuSign eSignature can be forged or copied.

DocuSign is designed to prevent unauthorized alteration of recipients, approvers, or signer identities.

Once an envelope is sent, recipients cannot be replaced or edited by unauthorized users.

DocuSign also tracks all actions through a secure Certificate of Completion, which logs email addresses, IP addresses, timestamps, and authentication events making forgery extremely difficult.

Key safeguards include:
-Unique email-based identity for each recipient or approver.
-Optional authentication methods (Access Code, SMS, ID Verification) to further strengthen identity validation.
-Tamper-evident sealing, ensuring the document shows clear evidence if anything was changed after completion.
-Comprehensive audit trail in every envelope.

Because of these security layers, approvers cannot simply be "forged" or "copied" without detection. If someone attempts to impersonate an approver by using their email, the audit log will reflect the email address and authentication details used during the signing or approval process.

Can someone take a screenshot of the signature and paste it on the Document using a pdf editor tool?

Because something like this has been happening where I am working.

Thank You

Hello @Anop

Thank you for your question.

Yes, it is technically possible for someone to take a screenshot of a handwritten signature and paste it into a PDF using a basic PDF editor. However, this does not produce a valid DocuSign signature.

DocuSign protects customers through multiple security layers that cannot be replicated by simply inserting an image.

These include:
- A tamper-evident digital certificate that flags any changes made to the document.
- A full audit trail showing the signer’s email, IP address, timestamps, and authentication steps.
- Cryptographic digital signatures tied to each signing action.
- Optional advanced authentication (SMS, ID verification, etc.).

Because of these controls, a pasted signature image cannot match the security, identity validation, or legal enforceability of a DocuSign executed signature.

Agree with has been stated above.

How do I trace all these

These include:
- A tamper-evident digital certificate that flags any changes made to the document.
- A full audit trail showing the signer’s email, IP address, timestamps, and authentication steps.
- Cryptographic digital signatures tied to each signing action.
- Optional advanced authentication (SMS, ID verification, etc.).

Please provide a guide and also how do I get the document summary of a particular envelope and its attached documents as the Admin.

Please I need assistance here.
