I received two emails from DocuSign about transactions I supposedly approved and signed. I did the usual checks for suspicious links, etc., to try and determine that the emails were fake, but all of the items I hovered over looked legitimate. So I logged into my DocuSign account only to find two documents there, marked as signed! I haven’t dared to download them to see what they are/who they are from.

This is what I see when I hover over the “View Completed Document” link in the email:

https://na4.docusign.net/Signing/EmailStart.aspx?a=ec3456aa-0b78-4116-8faf-845827c00f99&etti=43&r=595ef2ac-c4a7-4e08-9d9b-335d0897a498

All of the other links in the email are similar - they all show docusign.com or docusign.net.

I did look for any unusual activity in my bank accounts, but nothing has shown up. I am having a very difficult time trying to contact DocuSign support, so here I am.

Does anyone have any experience in this area?

Thanks!

@Davis.Reed

When you look at the items from your account in DocuSIgn, is there anything in the subject line/from that would indicate who may have sent the documents? I believe, if you are cc’ed on something the document shows up as “completed” same as if you had signed. Perhaps you were sent a copy of something?

good luck

Thanks for the tip. One of the email subject lines is “Completed: Payment acknowledgement for your last order.” The email does not say what was ordered or from what company. The second email was similar - its subject line was “Payment Received: Invoice Payment Successfully Processed.” It was supposedly from someone at PayPal about a suspicious transaction involving a payment through Coinbase. And none of these transactions have appeared in my bank or in my PayPal account.

I decided to cross my fingers, trust in Malwarebytes, and attempt to download the documents from DocuSign. I got the “Please select which documents to download” dialog, but no documents ever showed up to select. I let it try to find a document for about 10 minutes. I also tried downloading a legitimate document, and that did work.

I’m just going to delete them and keep an eye on things. I did tighten up my security settings and changed my password. Fingers crossed.

@Davis.Reed :

You could also report the activity to DocuSign - though I’m not sure if they still have a dedicated email address for this.

From what you say it looks like some sort of scam.

good luck

Thank you. I reported the first occurrence, but I never heard back from DocuSign, so I didn’t bother reporting the latest occurrence. I’ll look at their troubleshooting section again - maybe there’s another email to try. :-)
