Morning all

What are the options available to allow colleagues to date/sign documents when colleagues are unavailable due to sickness etc.?

In the event that the user hasn't already added a delegate and doesn't have (or can't) access the DocuSign platform, can I ask if an admin can set delegate access for a user?

Unfortunately, no, the Delegated Signer feature is a user-level setting only, as the admin, you will not have access to that unless you have direct access to the user's account (meaning you log in to their account with their credentials).

Many thanks​ for your prompt response. That's what I suspected.

So just to clarify, with shared access for sending or shared envelopes a colleague can carry out corrections to an envelope e.g. change expiry date and an admin controls this whereas the user can a single delegate to sign on their behalf?

That is correct, with Shared Access, a user can perform several actions on the envelopes of another user, but they can not sign on their behalf, that can only be done with the Delegated Signer feature.
