I have an agreement sent to customers which includes additional pages for certain states. When these additional pages are in the document, a second recipient needs to sign these pages (in addition to the recipient1) How do I include the additional recipient (recipient2) only for these states so they get the documents to sign only when they need to. For the other states only 1 signature is needed from recipient1

ex.

  1. Document has no Annex C in NY and only recipient 1 needs to sign the document
  2. The same document has Annex C in NJ and recipient 1 needs to sing the document and the Annex C and the recipient 2 needs to sign Annex C

Docusign eSignature has a feature called conditional routing a.k.a. conditional recipients. In the Docusign eSignature Web App the conditionality to include the second recipient needs to be based off a document field, e.g. a drop down to select the state in your case. It is currently not possible to base conditionality on documents being part of the envelope or not. Using a Web Form you could dynamically exclude documents from an envelope to not show those states specific documents for this transaction based on conditionality.

This Docusign Support article will guide you through the process on how to set up Conditional Routing.

Conditional Routing is part of “Advanced Recipient Routing” and may not be included in your Docusign eSignature plan.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your response. Conditional Routing seemed to be solution to my problem as I was trying the solve the exact use cases outlined in the document. However in the documentation it states that conditional logic is not supported in Salesforce integration. Does it mean that if we are using salesforce to send DocuSign envelopes we cannot leverage the Conditional logic?  We use DocGen to generate the package and DocuSign to sent the documents for signature.

Unsupported Features for Conditional Routing

Conditional routing does not support the following Docusign eSignature features:

  • CFR Part 11: Accounts configured for CFR Part 11 cannot use conditional routing.
  • Shared envelopes
  • Salesforce integration

Conditional routing has been significantly enhanced since it was first introduced and now supports many additional features, such as PowerForms and bulk send.
