Completed Document Copies - are they secure?

Hello,

We send documents with sensitive information for clients to sign. I want to confirm that the copies of the signed copies then sent to the signee are secure?   The clients receive an email with the signed documents attached but it seems like there is no security around those completed documents.  Can you please provide information how these are secure or how we can do so on our end?  Thank you

Hi @MaisiePlumley,

Thank you for engaging with the Docusign Community. We are pleased to have you here.

We understand how important it is to ensure that all documents sent through Docusign are secure and safe. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I’ll be happy to help you with this and provide the necessary information.

By default, if the “Attach documents to completion email” setting is enabled, the completed documents are sent as PDF attachments in the completion email. While the documents themselves are encrypted and securely stored within Docusign, the standard email attachments inherit the security of the recipient’s email system.

If your organization handles highly sensitive information, you may want to consider the following options:

> To disable document attachments, an account administrator can navigate to Admin > Signing Settings > Envelope Delivery

Are Docusign envelopes encrypted?

Are Electronic Signatures Safe?

Are electronic signatures legal, secure and safe?

I hope the information provided is helpful.
