Question

Add page numbering when combining multiple documents in an envelope.

We use DocuSign for contracts.  These contract swill have multiple multi-page documents within.  We’d like to have the ability to have page numbers add after the documents get combined in DocuSign for approvals. This would allow the approvers to see a total page count of the entire envelope.

Hi @StevenTexas,

Welcome to the Docusign Community! Thank you for reaching out about this. To make sure I give you the absolute best advice, could you clarify one detail for me?

Are you looking to print consecutive page numbers directly onto the pages of the documents themselves (like "Page 15 of 30"), or do your signers just need an easy way to see the total number of combined pages in the envelope?

If they just need to know the total number of pages of the envelope, Docusign actually has a built-in feature for this! When viewing the envelope, approvers can click on the "View Pages" icon at the top of the signing window. This opens a thumbnail sidebar showing all the combined pages sequentially, allowing them to see the exact total page count of the entire envelope instantly.

But, if you actually need page numbers stamped onto the physical documents after combining them, Docusign does not natively support this yet. We would need to look at merging and numbering the files before uploading them.

However, you are welcome to submit this suggestion or upvote similar requests on our Docusign Ideas Channel! Our engineers review this channel closely when planning future system updates and feature enhancements.

Thank you, and have a great day ahead!

Hello,

Yes, we would like for DocuSign to add the page numbers 1 of XX to XX of XX to all pages added to the envelope. Some files may only be 1 page, some may be 20 pages.  Once Combined, we’d like to see the pages numbered in sequence as a single document.
