Focused view embedded signing blocks rendering for ~30 seconds when cdn.optimizely.com is unreachable

Just to report here so maybe the DocuSign team can review:

The focused-view signing widget (signing_iframeless_mobile.js) fetches an Optimizely datafile (https://cdn.optimizely.com/datafiles/5V51g7L7XPgn5JrK1VcqS.json) during initialization. When that request fails, which happens for any end user running an ad blocker (uBlock, AdGuard, piHole, etc.) the widget shows its loading bar for ~30 additional seconds before rendering, even though the datafile request itself fails within ~2 seconds.

The console shows [OPTIMIZELY] ERROR DatafileManager: Error fetching datafile: Request error early, then appLoadTime.end ~30 seconds later, immediately before the ready event.

This Optimizely issue should not block the render for that amount of time.

Classic (default) view mode works just fine.

I’ve shared this behavior with our engineering team. In the meantime, as a workaround, you can configure your ad blocker or network filtering layer to allow traffic to cdn.optimizely.com (or at least the specific datafile URL) for signer traffic.
