Can multiple signers use the same device to access Docusign?

I sent an envelope that requires multiple signers. They use the same device, after the first signer completed their part, the second signer attempted to log in with their email to access the envelope. However, the device (iOS) rejected the login and forcibly closed the email app and browser window.

I would like to check whether the system supports signing on the same device using different email accounts, or if any users have experienced this issue before.

Yes, DocuSign fully supports multiple recipients signing the same envelope on the same device, even if each signer has a different email address. It is common for signers to complete documents sequentially on a shared device such as an iPhone or iPad.

After the first signer completes their portion, the envelope automatically moves to the next recipient in the signing order. The second signer should access the document through the email invitation sent to their own email address and select “Review Document.” They do not need to log in to a DocuSign account to sign unless the envelope specifically requires authentication.

The behavior you described where the iOS device closes the email app or browser window when attempting to log in is not expected and is most likely related to the device, browser session, or app handling the link, rather than a DocuSign limitation.

To resolve the issue, we suggest following troubleshooting steps below:

  • Ensure the second signer opens the signing link directly from their own email invitation.
  • Avoid logging into a DocuSign account unless the envelope specifically requests it.
  • Try opening the link using a different browser (Safari or Chrome).
  • If using the email app’s built-in browser, select “Open in Safari” instead.
  • Close and reopen the email/browser app or restart the device before the second signer attempts again.
