I’m setting up a DocuSign integration using JWT for a test environment and need to assign DS Admin permissions to a user so they can be used as the integration user.

However, when I attempt to update the permission profile for the user, I receive the following error:

An error occurred while getting user detail

This error prevents me from editing the user's profile to assign them the DS Admin permission set.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Confirmed I am logged in as an admin user with full permissions

  • Tried switching between the eSignature Admin and Organization Admin views

  • Cleared browser cache and used Incognito mode

  • Verified that the user appears in Users and Groups as “Active”

  • Confirmed that the user is not already assigned DS Admin

Environment:

  • DocuSign Production Account

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any insight or workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Nelson

Hi @nelsonaviles !

The best thing to do in your scenario would be to contact Docusign's customer support team, as they will be able to tell you exactly what is happening in your case.

This error message is very generic, and it is not possible to say exactly what is happening, but one of the possible causes would be that you have reached the limit of contracted administrator users (applicable to only some plans), or possibly this user has missing information that makes it impossible to be updated.

As a tip, my recommendation would be that you enable the logs for your administrator user through the menu Profile > My preferences > General > API Request Log > Enable. After that, try to update the user to administrator again. If the error persists, go back to the aforementioned menu and download the logs. The latest logs for your user will be captured, and among them there will be one of the logs with more details about the error.

See more information about this log capture in this article: API Request Logging
