Hi,

At my company we have a gen template which uses the standard anchor tags/autoplace text for name, signature and company - \co1\, \s1\ etc.

We have an issue that seems to only happen with one client, and we can’t get to the bottom of it. When the client receives the docusign, the company has autopopulated with a company that

  • the client does not work at and has never heard of
  • we have no record of the company on salesforce either

The client says they don’t have a docusign account and this doesn’t happen with any other companies, only us. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks!

Hello @mollyh

Welcome to the Docusign Community! We are so glad you reached out to us here.

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when your document does not behave as expected, especially when it impacts your workflow with a specific client. I would be happy to help clear up how that field works so you can get this sorted out quickly.

The Company field automatically pulls information based on your recipient's personal Docusign account preferences. Here is what is likely happening with your client:

  • Auto-fills: If they have a Docusign account with their organization saved, the field fills in automatically.
  • Stays blank: If they do not have an account or have left that setting blank, the field remains empty for them to fill out manually.

For a deeper look into how this field operates, you can check out the company field here: Field Types

If you want us to further investigate, you can send us the recipient’s email and the Envelope ID via Private Message.

Best regards,
