our client wants to use a Signing Group and  restrict editing of the recipient email address in Review and Send for signature  Workflow step.

Is this feasible to do within CLM without using the e-signature envelope template?

Hello @SanalVenu

Welcome to the Docusign Community!

Yes, this is feasible in Docusign CLM without using an eSignature envelope template that contains documents.

How to achieve this in CLM:

  1. Create a Docusign eSignature template without any documents (a “recipient‑only” template).
  2. In that template, assign a Signing Group as the recipient.
  3. In CLM, add this eSignature template to the “Review and Send for Signature” workflow step.
  4. When the workflow runs, CLM will use the signing group from the template, and the recipient email address will not be editable during the Review and Send for Signature step. Only you can see the members assigned to that group.

Important Note:

  • Add users to the Signing Group very carefully, as all members of the group will be eligible signers and the email addresses cannot be modified at send time.

This approach allows you to enforce Signing Group usage and restrict recipient email edits entirely within CLM, without needing a document‑based eSignature template.

Thanks!
