Automate Document Visibility for internal and external signatories

I’m working on creating and generating a document in Docusign CLM and sending it to Docusign eSignature along with the documents that needs to be signed. The challenge here is that the generated document should only be visible to the internal signatories and not for external signatories. I have enabled document visibility in my account. However, I’m currently manually updating the checkbox to add/remove visibility for signers. Is there a way to automate this process. I need the visibility to be automatically set to not be visible for external signers. Since the document is generated in CLM and the visibility setting is in the eSignature, how can we integrate or setup this automatically?

Hi ​@Aishwarya Konki,

May I ask which document visibility setting you have enabled in your account? 

If you use one of the first two options (under off), then when a document is sent for signature, the external signer should not be able to see the document *unless they have an assigned signature field placed on the document or is a user of the account (meaning they can log in)*.

The bottom two options give the sender the option to set, so it’s not required each time.

If you send the document for signature via workflow, you can use an esign template connected to the workflow step. The esign template should have the correct document visibility settings set. Each time the document is sent for signature, the correct visibility settings should be applied this way.

This is in the ‘Send for Signature’ or ‘Review and Send for Signature Step’ in workflow.

Hi ​@Kelly.Gatling,

So I have two documents, one for internal signers and other for both internal and external signers. Currently, I’ve selected first option from the drop down listed above. However, it requires to put a custom tag of the internal signatory to hide that document from the external signatory. I have added a custom date time tag on the document for the internal signatory that shows up automatically and the visibility issue is resolved. Is there is a way I can hide the custom tag to not be visible while sending the envelope to signatories? Hide it or whiten or any other way?
