We want to have 7 day void date contract pdf requirement which we generate out of opportunity object in Salesforce, and along with that we want to send a reminder after 3 days after contract is sent , and reminder 24 hours before the pdf is going to expire/void.

Steps we can follow :

  • We can set up this in DocuSign account 'Reminider & Expiration setting'
    1. Set "Days before request expires" to 7
    2. We can put 'Days before reminder sent' to 3 , Assuming it will send the reminder after 3 days
    3.  We can set ‘Days between reminders’ to 3 OR We can set 'Days to warn signers before expiration' to 1 this will send warning email before 24 hours?

Issues
Bit of issue with setting values in "Days between reminders:" this is a mandatory field, if we set this to 0 (Zero) , will it send reminder everyday??

OR

If we set it to 3 , will it send a reminder on 6th day ?? and then we also have 'Days to warn signers before expiration' to 1 so will customer get two emails on 6th day , one for reminder and one for warning?

- Our "Days before request expires" will be 7 since we want to void/expire pdf after 7 days, if we set "Days between reminders" to greater than 7 (Just to satisfy the mandatory requirement) , will it send any reminder? (Assuming it will not send reminder, since as per definition reminder doesn’t work after envelope is expired?)

- Is there a difference between an reminder email or warning email (by setting 'Days to warn signers before expiration' to 1 ) in terms of content

Hello @AmitV ,

Welcome to the Docusign Community and thank you for posting your concerns!

I’m sorry to hear that the set up has been giving you issues. I understand you have a couple of questions regarding reminders and expirations in Salesforce.

  1. If you set Days between reminders “0”it will not send a second reminder, right ?
    • If you enter 0 for the number of days between reminders, no reminders will be sent after the first one.
  2. If you set Days to warn signers before expiration “1”, it will send an expiration warning email 1 day before voiding, will there be difference between email content of reminder sent on 3rd day and expiration warning email, like any heading or subject line document expiring something like this?
    • The content of the email subject or contents: for expiring  and the reminder is different:
      • Expire Pending subject: Expiration Pending: Documents for your DocuSign Signature
      • Reminder subject: Reminder
  3. 4.If you set Days between reminders “3” instead of “0”, will it send two emails on the 6th day?, one for reminder and one for warning since you have set Days to warn signers before expiration “1”?
    • The Frequency of Reminders configures the "Number of days between reminders:", so the reminder will be sent every two days after the first reminder sent. The Days to warn signers before expiration depends on the  "Days before request expires". The number of days before sending the first reminder should be less than the number of days before the request expires.

Based on your requirement:" we want have 7 day void date contract pdf requirement which we generate out of opportunity object, and along with that we want to send a reminder after 3 days after contract is sent , and reminder 24 hours before the pdf is going to expire/void." The recommended setting is as below, this ensures only one expiring reminder will be sent to the user:

Days before sending first reminder: 3

Days between reminders:*0

Days before request expires: 7

Days to warn signers before expiration:1
