Hi,

I’ve been having any issue in trying to activate Docusign on Microsoft Word for a user.

The error message received “Please try again or Contact IT. The user lacks sufficient permission to access this resource”

Scenario: User already has DS Sender access granted and was able to sign documents that is received on Docusign Portal. Issue only occurs when trying to sign documents directly from Microsoft Word.

> Docusign for Microsoft Word was installed without a hitch

> Sign-in was successful as MFA prompt was seen cleared from our end.

> But user is receiving the notification the error message mentioned in the third line.

Additional note: Have tried to install Docusign from AppSource, if it makes any difference, but it still generates an error messsage, albeit a different one, “Please try again or Contact IT. System was unable to convert this document to a PDF. Unable to convert Document (Docusign-for-Word.docx?omexsrctype=1) to a PDF. Error: FileType docx?omexsrctype=1 is ineligible for conversion.

Even though this last part is not relevant, it does go against Docusign University article saying PDFs are not supported for signing.

Thank you.

Hi @Prasanna,

Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community.

Since the first error was already solved by assigning the DS Sender permission profile, the second error seems to be related to its own root cause.

Based on previous cases where this error was fixed, the problem is usually specific to the document being used. To confirm if this is the solution to your issue try creating a new document in a text processing app (such as Word, or Google Docs), and then re-try using the new document.

Regarding the compatibility of PDF documents, if the limitation is specified in the Docusign for Word app, it must be specific to it. The eSignature app is compatible with PDF and will convert any file uploaded to an envelope to PDF as well. You can find a detailed list of supported file formats, here:

Feel free to let us know if you need further assistance with this.
