Turn off or disable showing Signing Location?

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove showing signing location from DocuSign Agreement details if a signer has opted-in via their browser to share location information? I understand in those cases people with access to the agreement details can see on a map a physical house address.  Some staff are concerned about their privacy and there are conversations happening re: over-collection of personal information for the business need.

To clarify, I am aware how to turn location off with advanced branding/resource file and this is not what we want to do. I am specifically asking about the option to view signing location when in DocuSign | Agreement details. We are ok with IP location, not this additional information.

Thank you!

I understand you would like to remove showing signing location from DocuSign Agreement details if a signer has opted-in via their browser to share location information.

The only options around the location are:

  • for the signer to opt-out
  • for the sender to disable the location feature

There is no option for the location data not to be visible from the envelope details, if it is enabled and the signer opts-in, then it will be available for the sender or anyone with access to the sender's envelopes. For more information on this, please see: Why does Docusign request my location information when signing a document?

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your response.  To clarify, it sounds like the signer can opt-out which is hopeful we can communicate even if this was done once in their browser and they did not realize what this meant, they will have a chance to opt out for future collection.

It is an ongoing concern from our privacy analysts it is “over-collection” as IP address is what is stored in the certificate of completion, not the signer’s exact location. What is the purpose of allowing exact signing location in the history if it is not also included in the certificate of completion? Can someone answer this question for me to share with our privacy office?

I am creating an idea instead as I do not think an Admin should have to choose between having the IP address in the audit tracking and disabling people from seeing the signer’s location - even if they opted in via their browser.
