Question

Single option Conditional Routing

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

I am working with conditional routing: I have a selection that if checked, adds a recipient to the standard workflow (set up as a conditional routing group). If the box is not checked, it does not have an alternate- it should just continue the standard workflow to the next recipient.

Is there a solution for this?

Greetings,

All you have to do in this case is create a routing group with your one conditional recipient.  Then create a rule specifying that the envelope should go to that one conditional recipient if the check box is selected.  And your normal recipient after the routing group and send away.  If the checkbox is not selected by the preceding recipient, the conditional recipient will be skipped and the envelope will continue as normal to the next person, as you described.

Hope this helps!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for that info.  It is counter to what is posted on the DocuSign Conditional Routing page

https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?language=en_US&rsc_301&bundleId=gav1643676262430&topicId=zgl1578456484960.html&_LANG=enus

There is a box that says this:

Important: Two rules must be added for conditional routing to work correctly. Add rules for both scenarios: when a field has a value and when it does not. An empty field for Recipient A will cause the envelope to fail instead of routing to Recipient B.

My issue is that I do not have a 2nd rule, or option B.  I have an option A, or no option.

Thoughts?

Thank you for bringing that to my attention!  I will examine the article more closely and bring it to the attention of our writers if it needs to be edited.  But I just ran a test on my end in a demo account and was able to make it work successfully like so:

Recipient 1 was a normal signing recipient with a check box assigned to them.
Recipient 2 was a conditional group with 1 recipient in it
Recipient 3 was a normal signing recipient.

I created 1 rule which specified that if the check box was selected, route to recipient 2.

I then sent the envelope and acting as Recipient 1 I did not select the check box, and the envelope history indicated that it removed the conditional recipient and just routed it directly to recipient 3, who then signed, and the envelope was completed.

This comports with my prior understanding of conditional recipients, as well.

So you should be good to go!
