Hello.

Are there any permission for templates when sharing them?

We use a custom permission profile to allow our users to create, use and share templates since we want our users to use this feature for their own templates.

But we also have some company wide templates that should not be editable but only useable.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

These are the options for template permissions the options sets the user’s template usage and management rights. The four options are:

  • None: This user cannot use, create, or share templates.
    • Use: This user can use templates created and shared by other users, but the user cannot create or share templates.
    • Create: This user can create and use templates, but the user cannot share templates.
    • Share: This user can use, create, and share templates.

When you share a template, you grant the selected users or groups the right to edit the template, provided the users have the necessary permissions (template create or share). To protect a shared template, you can set a password or lock parts of the template.

Hello Christopher,

thank you very much for your answer.

We also found the solution with the password but hoped for a better solution like setting read/write permission while sharing.

In theory we need to update the password if a user is no longer allowed to change the template and also need to have a password per template. This is not very convenient.

best regards

Bernhard
