Welcome to the Community,
Yes, you should be able to apply the custom anchor tags with our Intelligent Document Recognition/ Template Matching Feature.
You would first create a template with the custom anchor tags and then setup the IDR Feature. Afterwards, the documents with the anchors should automatically be detected by the applied template. Learn more in our (https://docusign.wistia.com/medias/25w8n3zwor) Video and Guides below
Hi,
This can absolutely be done through the use of Templates. I'm not sure what kind of documents you're sending, so hypothetically, let's say you're sending Contracts. Create a Contract template using an example one of your contracts. Tag it up as you normally would (with anchor tags and all that), and then save.
When you're ready to send the real contract, upload it into DocuSign as normal, then apply your template to it (make sure that the anchors exist on the real contract!). The template will automatically place the anchored tags where they belong!
Thank you both very much for your help :)
I have this exact issue but I can't figure out to do this. I have a word document that I've set up with anchor tags (such as \\ContractorName\\, \\FilingDate\\ ) etc.
How do I get docusign to populate these tags automatically? The results that come up are "IDR/Intelligent Document Recognition" or template matching but there are no instructions on how/where to find this and I don't see any menu options under "ACTIONS" or any other place on my screen after I upload a template.
Is there any documentation/tutorial/guide on how to get the anchor tags to auto populate in docusign?
Hello,
The resource you're looking for is https://support.docusign.com/en/guides/AutoPlace-New-DocuSign-Experience (To note, Anchor Tags is the deprecated naming convention, which has been updated to AutoPlace.)
An important part of the process is setting up custom fields with the corresponding AutoPlace text/string, which should be identical to the AutoPlace string you've added to your documents, such as \\FilingDate\\. You can create custom fields in different places within your account, such as the Document Custom Fields section within Admin or when adding fields to an Envelope or Template. The following links will provide further information:
https://support.docusign.com/en/guides/ndse-user-guide-custom-fields
https://support.docusign.com/en/guides/ndse-admin-guide-custom-fields
Once you've created the Template that includes the document with the AutoPlace strings and an instance of each of the AutoPlace custom fields, whenever you apply this Template to an uploaded document containing the AutoPlace strings, all the fields will be placed at each instance of their corresponding AutoPlace string on the document.
If you have any further questions, please let us know!
Kind Regards,
Damian
