CLM could better facilitate creation of a family of documents, to allow users not only to link records (already available) but also organize such in a tree-like or other easy to follow fashion. Users should be able to easily understand how all “parents” and “children” records are related. Perhaps different colors or other graphical options could be used to distinguish amendments from task orders, etc. Also, an option to update certain attributes of the parent record (e.g. the contract end date when an amendment is being filed extending it) would be helpful. If so, the data in the parent record would need to reflect that it was changed by a “child” record. Reporting such relationships would be useful also.
Example: viewing a Master Agreement, users would benefit from having tabs listing all its task orders and, separately, amendments. This should carry to the lower level, so viewing a task order, users should also see a tab listing any of its amendments/change orders. For reference, think of the Salesforce layout where you can surface data under tabs/separate windows.
