The CXO of a company needs to sign over 20 envelopes daily, which are sent from various systems like Salesforce, SAP and with the majority coming from Docusign web app. Currently, the CXO uses a mobile app for signing documents. The company has developed a new internal portal for employees, which includes functionality for managing approval processes. Now, the CXO would like to use the new portal to sign all of their pending Docusign envelopes. Is this feasible using embedded signing?

This will only work for envelopes sent from your Docusign eSignature account. I already answered your question related to setting a clientUserId from the Docusign Web App in a different question today.

It is not feasible to change the envelope for the CXO to use the internal portal, most likely it is not just various internal systems, where the sending account may be his company account, but also he will receive requests for signature from external parties that you cannot correct at all.

The CXO should continue to use the Docusign mobile app to securely sign all internal and external envelopes in one place. You cannot replicate this functionality in the portal unless all envelopes have been sent from the portal, which is not the case when they originate in different platforms.

Hello Neethujkp,

Yes, it is feasible to use embedded signing in DocuSign to allow the CXO to sign all pending envelopes through the new internal portal. Here’s how you can achieve this:

Use DocuSign’s embedded signing feature (also known as the “captive signing” process). This involves generating a signing URL for each envelope that the CXO needs to sign. The signing URL can be embedded within your internal portal.

you can find this link for your reference: https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/esign101/concepts/embedding/embedded-signing/

Hi Mahmoud,

Thanks for your reply. But if the envelopes are sent from Docusign Web App, how do we define the client userid for embedded signing?

@neethujkp

Nothing to apologise for, I just wanted to mention to other related post.

Good luck with this challenge and managing your customer and CXO.
