What should I do when a person signing a document downloads it and signs it out of DocuSign then emails it back. Do I void the envelope? It is annoying as it is sitting as not complete.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

Our apologies for the inconvenience, I understand that you are looking for what to do when the envelope you sent for signature is downloaded, printed, and emailed instead of directly signing in DocuSign. Below you may find a couple of options.

  1. Advise the recipients that printed and signed the document to use the Print&Sign feature and upload the document directly back into the envelope so that the signing process can continue: https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=yca1573855023892&topicId=wdr1573855014901.html&_LANG=enus
  2. Void the envelope if they are the only signers on the document
  3. Correct the envelope and remove the recipient that signed manually in the cases that there is more than 1 recipient (doing this would create 2 separate documents).

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.

Please be aware that the Upload feature for Print and Sign does NOT replace the unsigned rendition like the UI does.  I consider this to be a bug.  In the current state JSON, we do not know how to associate the uploaded document to unsigned rendition.  The behavior should be no different than the Agreement Template Builder upload UI, where the end user is asking which document is being replaced in the envelope template.

Improve Print and Sign feature to replace unsigned rendition(s) similar to how the UI behaves, preserving any metadata on the documents. | Community
