Once a DocuSign envelope is completed, can I password protect the signed document? I need to password protect sensitive documents before emailing them to others.

I can't figure out how to password protect a completed DocuSign PDF whilst keeping the 'signed and all signatures are valid' section intact to prove it is an officially completed Docusigned document. Can this be done?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

I understand you would like to add a password to your documents for protection.

Unfortunately, at the moment we do not support the ability to password-protect documents after it is signed as it could invalidate the signature: https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=sto1596228661240&topicId=rim1603222617337.html&_LANG=enus

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.

hi Team!

I'm trying to access the previous documentation sent by Nathaly but it says Page Not Found - do we have any updated info about this matter?

Thank you!

Hi @Naandrew,

A warm welcome to the Docusign Community—great to have you here!

Currently, the Docusign esignature platform does not offer an option to set passwords directly on completed documents within the system. However, you can secure your documents by downloading the completed PDFs and applying password externally👉 Secure Your Docs: Password Protection & Safe Sharing Guide

Additionally, you might consider exploring the Document Visibility feature in Docusign, where recipients will only receive documents they are authorized to view 👉 Use Document Visibility to Control Recipient Access

Let us know if you have questions—we're always here for you!

Sincerely,
