I was presented with a DocuSign Envelope in 3 pieces:

Document 1

Document 2

Certificate of Completion

On opening in PDF Document 2 has a visible Envelope ID, and a second Envelope ID layered UNDER the visible ID.

The signature on each of the 3 Documents is missing the DocuSign Security Certificate.

The Certificate of Completion Time stamps are out of date order.

I did not receive a copy of this envelope in my email or in my DocuSign account.

When opened in Adobe PDF viewer the signatures cannot be validated.

I have reported this to DocuSign security however I have heard nothing back.

Can someone point me in the direction of an expert that can validate that this is a forged document?

Thanks much!

@HC967

Based on the description, this appears to be a forged document intended for fraudulent purposes, which is unfortunately becoming more common in recent times.

Legitimate documents from Docusign eSignature will always contain at least one valid certificate embedded within them, which can be validated using tools like Adobe Acrobat Reader. If a document lacks a certificate, or if the certificate cannot be validated, then it is not considered an original or authentic document.

You may want to reach out to the sender and request the original, untampered version of the signed documents for validation. Ideally, they could forward them to you through Docusign eSignature. However, it's likely they won't be able to do so, as the documents probably don't exist on the Docusign platform. I've heard of cases where scammers repeatedly send the same documents, which is another red flag indicating suspicious activity.

In fact, not responding to these requests at all may be the best course of action for you.

This is an Arbitration Agreement that has forced a filed lawsuit to Arbitration to keep the actions of a whistleblower (me) silent. Lawsuit filed, company produced Arbitration Agreement…..pushing this to confidential Arbitration rather than public record lawsuit against a public (SEC) company.

We have requested the document multiple times. And continue to get the same piecemeal delivery which all produce the same results.

What we are in need of is an expert or DocuSign Security to say “yes, these documents have been tampered with”……

So if there is anyone out there in the DocusSign community, or DocuSign Security, that can point to fraud I’d be so grateful.

The Certification of Completion has no DocuSign Signature Security Block, the signature cannot be verified in Adobe (with a current Adobe certificate). The 1st document does not have a DocuSign Signature Security Block and the signature cannot be verified in Adobe. The 2nd document (the MOST important one) does not have a DocuSign Signature Security Block, the signature cannot be verified in Adobe AND there are two DocuSign Envelope ID’s embedded in the document (one is visible, one appears when you view the document through Google Docs or Adobe Photoshop).

thanks!
