Linking/Attaching .xlsx File

If the file can be on a link available on the cloud you can add it to a document in DocuSign as a document custom field.   You can follow this instructions here.   How do I create a hyperlink in a Docusign document?  Ignore the comment about Supplemental documents and follow the instructions to Create a hyperlink custom field using #HREF Text field.

I actually need it to be a link to a unique location each time depending on what is being requested.

It honestly doesn’t even need to be a link, but I need copy/paste-able text that can direct a user to the local drive to find the file. I’m not sure how to go about this.

How many different requesting options are there?   Could you explore a dropdown with all your options and the #HREF Text field using a condition that will present on the document the selected option from the dropdown?  Can you show an example of what you mean?

It is absolutely crazy that file types are limited to ONLY PDF. 

I consult for a number of companies in addition to my full-time position in the Financial Services Industry and have FREQUENT need for clients to upload documents other than PDF. 

Please add as a feature.

DocuSign does support uploading a wide range of file types (such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, image files like PNG or JPG, and more). You can view the full list of supported file types in this DocuSign help article:

Supported File Formats.  Once it is uploaded to DocuSign it is converted to PDF. Even though DocuSign allows you to upload many file types, it converts them to PDF so that the signing process is consistent, secure, and legally compliant.

According to the reply, it doesn't support the download in the same format. (see below)

Being legally compliant is insignificant because only individuals in the signing path and administrators can access the envelopes.

The capability to download as a file type of other than PDF, particularly Excel, eliminates several other steps of opening the PDF, converting, reformatting and then applying to however/whatever is needed for its application.

You're absolutely right that the current process can create extra steps when you're working with files like Excel spreadsheets.

To clarify, DocuSign does convert all uploaded documents into PDF format for signing purposes. 

While it may seem like a small ask, allowing downloads in editable formats (like Excel) would compromise document integrity. Signed documents must be immutable to ensure:

• Tamper-evidence
• Legal enforceability
• Compliance with standards like ESIGN, UETA, and GDPR
