If an envelope is set to expire on a given date, does it expire at the beginning of that date or at the end? Or does it depend on the time the expiration date was set?

Thanks,

Teri

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

By default, envelopes expire 120 days after sending. When an envelope expires, the status changes to Voided and it can no longer be viewed or signed by recipients.

You can modify the default number of days before the envelope expires. The date and time shown is when the envelope enters the expiration process. Envelopes can take up to 24 hours from this time to expire. You can also add the option to send signers an expiration warning, which generates an expiration pending email to all outstanding signers.

When an in process envelope reaches six days to expiration, a warning icon appears and the status shows "Expiring". Hover over the status to show the expiration date.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. You mentioned that “the date and time shown is when the envelope enters the expiration process”. I don’t see a time, just a date, per the screen shot below. Am I looking in the wrong place?

You also said that “Envelopes can take up to 24 hours from this time to expire”. The envelope shown below has an expiration date of 6/1/2023. Are you saying that the envelope will expire anytime between 12:00am on 6/1/2023, and 12:00am on 6/2/2023?

Hello,

According to the article that is correct, there is no specific time when the envelope will change the status to void due to the expiration, it will be within the 24-hour timeframe.

It would be SUPER helpful if DocuSign would consider adding the functionality to allow administrators to set a time and date of expiration.  I have situations where we want to give a signer the option to execute the document by a specific date and time or the offer is off the table.  (i.e. 5pm ET on Friday, March 1, 2024)  This seems like a standard function that many of us that use DocuSign would find useful.  Thanks.

Hi, at the “Home” tab, it reflects as 1 document is expiring soon but I cannot locate this document even if I select “All Time” or any document sent to me or by me etc. Is there a system glitch somewhere?
