Can I send in one envelope multiple documents that need to be signed by the same person but need to be saved as separate documents?

Welcome to the Docusign Community!

Yes, you can save those documents separately after the envelope be completed.  You don’t need to send in separated envelopes to the same person.

Go to the Manage page, find your completed envelope, click on it. You’ll see a Download button above on the right, use that button to download each document individually or all documents in a zip file.

Dear all,

I’ve found this thread as I was looking to download two documents sent in the same envelope separately. However, I need to combine to each of them the certificate of completion to be compliant with the QA department guidance in our company. Would that be possible directly in DocuSign?

I guess I could combine each of the pdfs to the general certificate of completion once I download the files separately but I’m not sure it that would break any kind of audit trail in the process…? So I was hoping that I could extract that directly from DocuSign.

Hello, I have the same question as Lucia above, but it isn’t really answered in the reply. As an example, I upload two separate Word documents, each representing a unique protocol deviation report for the same study, to a single envelope. Both documents require signature of the same PI but must be filed separately. After signing, can I download the 2 documents and the certificate separately, and then combine the certificate with each of the 2 signed documents, or does the act of combining after downloading affect the audit trail in any way?

Hello ​@kerris, thanks for your question, happy to clarify this for you.

When multiple documents are included in a single envelope, the signer can complete everything together, and once the envelope is finished, you’ll have two download options: 

1. As one combined PDF — this includes all signed documents, the Certificate of Completion (CoC).
2. As separate PDFs — each signed document and the CoC can be downloaded individually.

You are free to download the files individually and pair or merge them outside of DocuSign in any way that meets your filing requirements.
However, please note, any modifications or combining of documents done outside of DocuSign is outside our control, and we cannot validate or support changes made after download.
