We have multiple users sending docusign envelopes from Salesforce and, ideally, each agreement would be sent from an org-wide email rather than the individual user’s email?  I see via Shared Access that it is possible to send on behalf of another user, but I can’t find information on if this works from Salesforce and, if so, how.  Any info would be appreciated.

There is a feature called DocuSign System Sender that can be enabled in Salesforce. However, the configuration for this feature varies depending on which version of the Salesforce connector for DocuSign you are using. The setup differs between the Legacy DocuSign Connector and the newer DocuSign eSignature for Salesforce integration.

We have the legacy eSignature for Salesforce.  Is their guidance on setting up a system sender?  Does that apply to all users or can you assign it to a select group of users (we have multiple departments and, ideally, each department would be sending from their own departmental email)?

These are the steps to configuring a system sender:

  1. Create System User in Salesforce:

    • Set up a dedicated user account in Salesforce that will be used solely for sending envelopes. Assign appropriate permissions to this user to access necessary data and perform actions required for sending documents.
  2. Configure DocuSign Account:

    • In your DocuSign account, create an Integration Key and configure OAuth authentication. Ensure that this key is linked to the system user account in Salesforce.
  3. Set Up DocuSign Connect:

    • Configure DocuSign Connect to send real-time status updates to Salesforce. This setup involves creating a Connect configuration in DocuSign that specifies the endpoint in Salesforce to receive updates.
  4. Salesforce DocuSign Settings:

    • In Salesforce, navigate to the DocuSign Admin tab and set up the System Sender Configuration. This involves specifying the system user, integrating the DocuSign Integration Key, and setting up OAuth authentication.
  5. Mapping Users and Permissions:

    • Ensure that all users who need to send envelopes have appropriate permissions and that their actions are correctly mapped to the system user in Salesforce.
  6. Testing the Configuration:

    • Perform tests to ensure that the system user can successfully send envelopes on behalf of other users and that status updates from DocuSign are correctly reflected in Salesforce.
