I’m building a Risk Profile Questionnaire where there are multiple questions where I’m using Radio Button Groups and have a value for each selection.  How do I total up each of the values they select for each question?

Hello @userbilly,

Thank you for the reply.  I’ll try to lay it out.  Let’s say I’m doing 4 different radio button groups with 3 radio buttons on each and there is a numerical value associated with each button.  When the user clicks a radio button from each group I then want to total the value of the 4 different buttons that were selected.

@userbilly I know that the capability you are looking for is available if using “Dropdown” fields but I am not aware of a methodology to use Radio Buttons in Formulas.  Formula fields are a great way of creating mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction on other DocuSign fields but there are limits as detailed in the article below:

Taking that into consideration a Radio Button, as I am aware, does not have a translation of selection to value like a Dropdown field, meaning that if you have a Dropdown with 4 selections such a “High, Moderate and Low” you can convert each selection to a numerical value and then use the Formula fields.

Functionally speaking could you switch to Dropdown fields instead of radio buttons?

I think a feature in which a radio button could translate to a numerical value would be useful.

If you cant switch to drop downs you could use conditional text fields that represent the number for each selection - make them white so they cant be seen by the user. Then use a formula field that adds all the conditional text fields together and it would show the risk score you want
