The person I"m emailing needs to give access to someone else to sign. How can the recipient remove his name from the signature line and send to someone else to sign?

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

You can manage the envelope's delegation options in its Advanced Options menu.

You will need to select the "Allow recipients to change signing responsibility" option in the Recipient Privileges section.

For more details on this topic, see:

Set advanced options for an envelope or template

In the case that might have selected this option, but your recipient is still unable to reassign the envelope, it could be because of several reasons:

  • Your account security settings require an active DocuSign user to access your envelopes.
  • The recipient type set does not support delegation (Allow to edit, Specify Recipients, etc...)
  • The same recipient already exists in the same routing order.

For more details on how to change signing responsibility, see:

Change signing responsibility

In the case that your signer would prefer to set a Delegate Signer instead, they will need to include the person's name and email in the Delegate Signers section of their user preferences.

It is important to note that for this option to work the recipient must have had the delegate set prior to the envelope being sent, and the time frame selected for the delegation must include the envelope's creation date in it.

You can find detailed steps on this process, here:

Add a Delegate to Sign on Your Behalf

Regarding the signature that was already applied, if the signer in question has already completed any fields, any data entered in them will be wiped if the "Assign to Someone Else" option is selected.

Feel free to let us know if you need further assistance with this.

Thank you for using DocuSign, we hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
