Does the IRS accept DocuSign for Power of Attorney Form 2848?
Best answer by Community Expert

I could not find anything specifically on the IRS website regarding acceptance or denial of electronic signatures on the form 2848, so I would suggest contacting the IRS by email or phone to get a clear answer on whether electronic signatures are acceptable on that form.

The IRS for POA's do not accept a Stamped signature, which is what docusign is.

There is movement on this and the IRS is slated to start accepting electronically signed POAs. Details as to what is acceptable to them is coming. https://www.groom.com/resources/taxpayer-first-act-continues-emphasis-on-electronic-services-and-refocuses-irs-on-taxpayer-needs/ Bottom line hang loose, it's in the works.
