Dated Document needing further information added

I have a docusign document (lease) that needs dating.

In some of the definitions, the text boxes have been missed therefore I won’t be able to add in the relevant information in docusign at the time of dating. I can edit the pdf immediately after to add those in, but do I need to add a statement on the front page that advises that has been done?

Hello @CJP,

Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We are thrilled to have you here and look forward to sharing as much knowledge as we can.

I understand that your inquiry pertains to a document lease that requires dating. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and rest assured I will make efforts to assist.

Could you please provide additional details of what you would like to achieve? Are you referring to an in-progress envelope that requires corrections or the need to modify a completed, signed envelope (downloaded PDF) then would like to include a statement on the front page indicating that modifications have been made?

I look forward to your response. Thank you!

Hi Melanie

Thank you for your reply.

I am referring to the need to modify a completed, signed envelope which I would need to amend a description then would like to include a statement on the front page indicating that modifications have been made - if that is what’s necessary? Or can I just make the modification and initial as I would with a hard copy document?

Many thanks

Claire

Hello  @CJP,

Thank you for the explanation. Once a document is signed in DocuSign, it is considered legally binding. Any modifications to the actual PDF (outside of Docusign) can potentially affect its validity. What you can do is forward the completed envelope in Docusign. Forwarding creates a copy of a completed envelope, which you can send to new recipients as is or add new documents and fields as needed. For a forwarded envelope, you cannot remove any information or signatures on the completed documents, but you can add new recipients, documents, and recipient fields. More information here. A new envelope ID will be created; however, the Certificate of Completion will contain the original Source envelope ID. Additional details about the process can be found here.: Forward a Completed Envelope

Note: Some advanced features and options are supported only in specific Docusign plans. Your account plan might not support some of the options discussed in this help topic. Contact your account administrator for more information about which options are available for your account. Or, visit our Plans and Pricing web page for more details on the features included with your plan. Compare eSignature plans & pricing.
