Same here, with the following steps:

  1. Create a Docusign trial account
  2. Create an envelope with a few PDF documents
  3. Send it for signing to the 5 participants (including myself)
  4. From the Agreements page, select the envelope and select “Correct”
  5. Fixed a typo in someone’s name or email
  6. On the “Correct” page, click on “Next” then “Correct”
  7. You’ll get the “The API request is forbidden. Request blocked due to excess usage”

Moreover, on the “Correct” page, click on “Discard changes” - You will get back to the Agreements page, but the Envelope stays as “Correcting”

Which blocks my envelope for now… I hope I don’t have to invalidate this one, create another one, and make everybody sign again!

Please be explicit if it is a limitation of the current plan (I have a trial plan), or something else, and which plan would solve that issue. If you are willing to do so, you can temporarily upgrade me for free so I can test if that was the problem. If it is an internal bug, please tell me more about what I can do for now to get that envelope signed.

Hello @AlmogBaku @Evar @Thibaud @calum523 @Vfdev44 @smenor,

I see that you are getting an error message when correcting envelopes. Correcting envelopes is available to users with paid Docusign plans only. Free accounts cannot use the correct feature. The option is to void the existing envelope and create a new one or upgrade to a paid plan. Here is an article for your reference: Common sending issues > Need to correct an envelope

I understand that this situation may have caused some inconvenience, and for that, I sincerely apologize. Let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you!

I see that you are getting an error message when correcting envelopes. I have confirmed that the error message is due to product limitations using free and trial accounts. The option is to void the existing envelope and create a new one or upgrade to a paid plan. This is such a transparent gross and dirty way to force people into a paid plan.

If you’re going to offer a「 free 」tier you should actually make it free and if you insist on pulling this sort of thing, you should at least TELL PEOPLE that the issue is due to being in the fake「 free 」tier and resolvable by paying because there is absolutely zero hint from this error that this is the problem or that paying will actually resolve it ( it did for me but I feel violated / cheated that you pushed me into paying before I wanted to and doubly so that it was a gamble to have tried that and if it wouldn’t have worked I’d have had no real recourse )

Hello @smenor

I sincerely apologize and fully recognize the frustration you are experiencing. The Terms and Conditions specify that “The version of the DocuSign Services available for a Free Trial may not include or allow access to all features or functions. More here: DOCUSIGN SITES & SERVICES TERMS AND CONDITIONS | Docusign

While the error message does not indicate that this is due to the limitation, information regarding the correct feature available only to paid plans can be found in the public article: Common sending issues > Need to correct an envelope

I am pleased to hear that you were able to correct your envelope, but I want to acknowledge your frustration and express my sincere apologies.

Sincerely,

This isn’t a debate club. You don’t get to win customer satisfaction by being right on a technicality that in some obscure document someone doing a trial wouldn’t be looking at the nondescript error is kinda sorta explained

Do you not see that many people’s first experience with your platform will be to see something not working without any sort of message that says that this basic functionality isn’t available in the trial version

I needed something signed and gambled that signing up for a paid plan might let me get unstuck and got lucky but there was zero indication that that would work just as there was zero indication that I couldn’t complete my correction to the document until after I was 99% done with that.

Thanks for it, I guess, but I don’t need or care about your apology I’m just telling you you should at least put up some guardrails so trial users don’t get stuck or / better don’t arbitrarily limit their ability to use the such basic functionality in a trial unless it’s your goal to have people’s very first experience with your product be a bad one.

it doesn’t escape my attention that this is a dark pattern that compels them to sign up.giving you very little perceived incentive to fix it but all this experience and your comments have achieved here is to make me want to look for another / better solution since you’re clearly showing not telling exactly how much you care about prospective customers.
