Are there any best practices/advice for moving templates from demo to production environment?
Are there any best practices/advice for moving templates from demo to production environment?
Hi
Couple of things to point out
- If you are downloading a template from one account to another, and you’ve protected your template by using a password, the process of downloading the template will remove the password.
- Downloading a single template will export the file in JSON format. If you select multiple templates it will export the file as a .ZIP file. When you upload a template into you account you can either select the JSON file or the ZIP file. Both are accepted.
- Make sure you have the correct level of access to be able to Download/Upload templates. You will need to have been assigned a DS Admin permission profile or a custom permission profile with Templates > Share level of access.

This is such a great question. I have it, too.
It seems that uploading the json file creates a new template with a new template id, correct? But what if I have an existing template in both demo and production? If I have changes to the existing template in demo and need to promote those changes to the same existing template in prod, how would I do that?
