Hi All,

We have rebranded and I have two accounts one with my new email and one with my old email. Is it possible to merge these please?

Hi @delazaro   — thanks for raising this.

Welcome to the Docusign Community!
I understand that you would like to be able to access your accounts easily. However, no option in place would allow you to merge two users within eSignature. We understand that some of our users have multiple Docusign accounts, which could be for work or personal transactions. If your accounts reside on the same Docusign site server (e.g., NA1, NA2, EU) and have the same email and password combination, you can easily switch between them once you log in. You may follow the steps below.

  1. Select your profile image to show the account actions menu. The account listed below your photo is the current one in use.
    switchaccounts.png?token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJjdXN0b21lciI6ImRvY3VzaWduX3Byb2R1Y3Rpb24iLCJleHAiOjE3NDg1NTE2MzcsInNoZWFmIjoianV4MTY0MzIzNTk2OTk1NCJ9.phSSIP_2HjQ3jQ6PV49OHvza2SPDpVK-VaUMitXUgso&_LANG=enus
  2. Select Switch Account.
  3. In the Select an Account dialog box, select the account to switch to.

Docusign refreshes and loads the selected account. The new account selection displays at the top of the account actions menu.

But if your accounts use the same email address but exist on different Docusign sites, you can select which one to log in to.

After entering your email address on the Docusign login page, the Select a user page displays. Each user includes the account name and Docusign site to help you find the account you want to log in to. Select any user to continue to that account.

  • To switch to a different account, log out and log in again, selecting the new account.

is it two accounts or two users? if it is two account and with enterprise edition, the envelopes can transfer from old account to new account when they join in the same DocuSign Org.

Hello @Manny007,

Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community.

I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you. The merging of the accounts is not possible. The only option would be as stated in the previous post.

You will need to create a Docusign Organization and then transfer the envelopes, after the transfer is completed you can close the account if needed, the one that the envelopes are from. Introduction to Docusign Organization Administration

Note: Some advanced features and options are supported only in specific Docusign plans. Your account plan might not support some of the options discussed in this help topic. Contact your account administrator for more information about which options are available for your account. Or, visit our Plans and Pricing web page for more details on the features included with your plan. Compare eSignature plans & pricing.

Hello,

Well, I have a similar issue. When I sign documents as an individual, and not representing some firm, using diferent email accounts, I might loose the access to some if moving from one firm to another but being an individual, all documents that I signed should be combined under one personal account, so that I have the control over all documents that I personally as an individual have commited with.

So, how can I as an individual, transfer documents singned under diferent emails into the same “person/individual” account?

Thanks,

Dear Docusing team, I understand what you explained, but it is not acceptable to deny access to past signed documents for someone just because it does not have the same email anymore once the emails may change and may be cancelled. Also if emails are hacked and the person lose access. The correct way is to link emails to real documents so that you can actually link a person to a signature instead of an email that does not mean anything and does not prove real life responsabilities. Anyway, hope a company that are so worried and commited to trust and sustainable parctices.

Hello @delazaro
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concerns about accessing previously signed documents when an email address changes or becomes unavailable. Please note that, for security and compliance reasons, Docusign identifies each signer by the unique email address used during the signing process. This approach ensures the integrity and traceability of every signature event, as all actions within the envelope are linked to that verified identity at the time of signing. While Docusign cannot retroactively change or transfer access from one email to another, signers retain the option to download and securely store copies of their completed documents once signing is complete. We always recommend keeping a local copy of all signed agreements for your reference.

We truly appreciate your perspective, and you're welcome to share this kind of idea on our Ideas board by submitting a feature requestThat’s where ideas from Docusign users like you can submit ideas to improve Docusign’s features, and where you can also vote on ideas from other members.

Hello @Ma. Cassandra,

Thank you for your reply. However, I must express that none of the answers provided so far have been satisfactory or aligned with the level of a company such as Docusign.

The argument that “Docusign identifies each signer by the unique email address used during the signing process” does not make practical sense when considering how legal signatures work. A signature—whether electronic or handwritten—ultimately depends on a human being for legal validity, either the individual signer or a duly authorized representative through a power of attorney. Basing identity exclusively and irrevocably on an email address is fundamentally fragile, as anyone can create an email address, which undermines the security rationale presented.

Moreover, changes of email due to company transitions, account deactivation, or any other organizational or personal need are normal and unavoidable, and should not prevent a user from consolidating or recovering access to their signing history. Many existing technologies already allow secure identity federation—such as SSO (Single Sign-On) and other identity-management frameworks—which could easily support a model where multiple emails can be linked to a single verified identity or key.

Therefore, the justification that email immutability is required for security does not hold, and the current limitation represents a weak point rather than a security feature. A more robust method would rely on document-based validation or identity confirmation mechanisms (e.g., government ID verification, biometric validation, etc.), instead of relying solely on an email address.

For these reasons, I cannot consider the answer provided as acceptable or aligned with best practices in identity management or the expectations customers naturally have from a company of Docusign’s size and importance in the digital-signature ecosystem.

I strongly recommend re-evaluating this policy internally instead of framing it as a feature request. This is not a convenience request, but a structural issue with real impact on users’ legal obligations and continuity of access.

Thank you again, and I hope this topic receives more serious and technical attention from the product and security teams.

Best regards,
Walter Delazaro Filho

Hello @delazaro

Thank you for sharing your detailed concerns. I understand your points, and I appreciate the thought you put into explaining them. Based on current Docusign system design, it’s not possible to merge accounts or transfer signed documents from one email/profile to another. The best approach is always to update the email on the existing profile rather than creating a new account. If the new profile wasn’t used, it can be closed so the email can be updated on the original account.

For SSO users, an Org Admin must claim both domains before updating the email to keep all history intact. Additionally, envelopes belong to the sender, not the signer. This means the sender controls access and can retrieve documents even if the signer loses access to their email. The email used in the envelope is preserved to maintain the legal audit trail, which is why it can’t be changed afterward.

For your reference, please see this article.
