Hi,

we do have several templates uploaded to Docusign e-Signature (and we will also start using CLM) and want to have the page number (Page X of Y) on each side of the document. Is there any other way than adding it manually to the word before uploading it to Docusign?

Thanks,

Nadine

@Nadine

Having the page numbers on the Word document before uploading them to Docusign eSignature is the best way to achieve this. You could add them manually in Docusign eSignature, but this is not very efficient. manual effort and error-prone. As Word does it out of the box this is the preferred solution and best practice.

Ok, I have to say I am a bit disappointed there is no better (automatic) solution to this 😔

We are a relatively small company and adding the page numbers manually is a real pain and very time consuming cause the automatic counting option in Word does not work. I wonder what bigger companies do. Hire a summer intern for just manually adding page numbers? 🤔

It would really be great if Docusign could find a more user friendly solution for this…

Thanks,

Nadine

@Nadine

Why does an automatic counting option in Word not work? This is what companies of all sizes do when they want to have a page numbering, but not all documents will actually have this.

If you are leveraging Docusign CLM for document generation, you can easily do the auto numbering there. Docusign eSignature was not designed for editing documents and adding page numbers to it, as it’s main purpose is to commit to the documents and sign them electronically. Adding page numbers falls within the preparation phase of the agreement and you can achieve this with the document generation functionality of Docusign CLM or Docusign eSignature, where you would require an additional add-on to achieve this.

This is what it looks like if I let Word count the pages and then the Word document gets imported into Docusign… (aka: I don´t know why it doesn´t work 😉)

Thanks,

Nadine

@Nadine

Thank you for sharing. This is not a Docusign eSignature issue but seems like it is corrupted in Microsoft Word. I can attach an example on how those page numbers need to be set up in order to properly work.

Hi Christopher,

I hope I find you well. I know how to add page numbers in Word, automatically as well as manually.

It´s a shame that I need to add the page numbers manually as Docusign does not support that, especially if we are talking about documents of 20 pages or more which is not unusual in our business. And we also ideally want to have page numbers in the “page X of Y” style on all our documents. So that means A LOT of manual work unfortunately 😳

Best regards.

Nadine

Hi,

One of my colleagues is experiencing the exact same error ‘Unknow switch argument” when importing a Word document into DocuSign.

@Michael.Rave You mentioned a corrupted document but did not provide any troubleshooting steps.

Any idea ?
