I'd like to enable Password Rules and Expiry. I was wondering what will hapen for existing users? Will they receive an e-mail to change their passwords immediately? Should they changed their password before I enable the new security requirement?

Hello @gabrielle.thauvette,

Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community.

If no expiration is set, the users can continue with the old passwords if they need to. The admin would need to manually reset the users’ passwords to  force the change.

If an expiration is set that would automatically request the users to re-enter a password after some days/months, though this would force every user to reset after that number of days rather than only the ones who don't have a strong enough password.

Each time a user logs in, the system checks the current expiry rules to make sure their password is still valid. If the password expiry rules at that time say their password should expire, then the system will route them through the "create a new password" flow. Just keep in mind that the system checks at the date the password was created, vs. the expiry timeframe set by the account. Also, if the user is a member of multiple accounts (under the same User ID), then the system will take the most strict password rules from all of the accounts they're on. So if one account says 90 days, and another says 30, then it'll be 30 for that user.
