How to add a currency symbol (e.g. $ or €) to a formula field result

Hello

I have formulas that total prices on a template

I’d like to present the result as a price -- ie with a currency symbol up front.

I can hack this by adding a $ into the underlying template PDF or doc.. but I’m hoping there is a simple way to tell the formula field to prepend a $ to the number.

Thank you in advance

@barak

Formula fields only return a number or a date and cannot be set up to include a currency symbol.

However, it is fairly easy to set up and achieve the currency symbol being present in the document:

  1. Add a text field and assign it to the same recipient as the formula field
  2. Add a $ sign into the new text field
  3. Make the text field “read-only” so the recipient can’t change it
  4. Test it and if needed change position of the field to look nice
