Yes, you can achieve this with a single template in DocuSign by using conditional routing and role-based recipients.

Thank you for your help and quick reply. As I’m still very new, I’m not sure how to go about doing this. 
Would I have to define role-based recipients and would that include names/emails… somewhere? TIA

Thank you for the link to explore. And yes I did explore this topic and I’m still not sure how to set this up correctly. 

So any employee could pick this template up and start using it. 

It will go to their immediate supervisor for approval (they specify name and email address when they Start the process)

Once it’s approved and signed by their supervisor the for some will go to AP but for others it might go to another level of approval - manager but it’s not one manager for everyone so how does that conditional routing work?

I can add ALL managers to a group like it says, but how will it go to the correct manager of this particular employee? that’s where I’m a little confused, I guess…

Thank you for reaching out here in the Docusign Community. 

So, to be able to route to a specific Manager, if needed, you would need to add all of the possible managers and add a dropdown with the names of the managers and have the supervisor select the manager’s name. I would recommend you create a support case (if you haven’t already) for assistance however, if the envelopes have to be routed automatically without the intervention of a signer of the sender, unfortunately, that wouldn’t be possible: https://support.docusign.com/en/contactSupport

So to answer your question/comment (1st one), it will not have to go to a specific Manager, my question was to see if the routing could be somewhat conditional.

Basically, not all employees need manager’s approval. This might have to be a modification of business practices if it can’t be achieved in DocuSign...
