Invalid Data entry for phone number

I am trying to sign a document so I can send it to my client to be signed. I keep getting an error message saying Required-invalid data in the field. Is there a specific way that phone numbers are supposed to be entered? I’ve attempted to put the number in several times but continue to get the error message.

There are not any pre-defined data validation for phone numbers. It is most likely a custom validation. Does the application give you a data format when you mouse over the field or as a result of entering the invalid data?
