Formula Across Roles (Signers)

I need to create a formula that totals the amounts from three text fields with numerical validation. The rub is that each of the text fields is completed by a different signer (different role). DocuSign keeps telling me there is an error in the formula field, but I have triple-checked the syntax and field names. I am left to think there is an issue with creating a formula using the values from three different roles.

Notably, the text fields are set for collaboration.

Formula fields across signers are not supported by Docusign eSignature, which includes collaborative fields as mentioned in this Docusign Support article.

Note: Collaborative fields cannot be used in the definition of a formula field. When you set up a formula field, fields marked for collaboration are not included in the list of fields to use. If you apply collaboration properties to a field that is referenced in a formula, you will get an error when trying to send the envelope or save the template.

I am having this issue as well. As a workaround, am I able to copy the input field that signer 1 has and then change that copied field to signer 2 and make the Data Label the same so it copies the text over, then make the font white so you don’t see the duplication?
