Hi,

New to the forum, have an issue using the Template Builder. I’m wanting to add customer sender fields to a contract document, company name, address etc and can add these easily enough.

The document however is text heavy and has paragraphs, bullets and tabulations. When very first loaded in, it looks fine. As soon as I start in the Template Builder, I loose that formatting and things become joined and/or our of line.

I see mention of flattening/PDF’ng however unsure how that solves the problem when I’m wanting to add the customer fields as the Template Builder doesn’t support PDF format. Perhaps I can approach it differently or am missing another method? Thanks

You’ll need to work with a format and workflow that preserves your text layout before adding custom fields. Typically, this means preparing your document in a supported rich-text format (e.g., Word or HTML), ensuring styles are simplified, and then adding placeholders or merge fields through the Template Builder. If direct formatting keeps getting lost, consider using the Template Builder’s HTML/source mode (if available) or carefully re-applying formatting after all placeholders are inserted.

@JohnSantos thanks for the reply and sorry it took a while to respond. The source document is Work and formatting (relatively) simple, however the Template Builder doesn’t recognise or adjust’s the tabulations, of which there are many. I'll have a look at the HTML option, and I’m unable to to reapplying the tabulations via the Template Builder as that functionality isn’t available. Maybe I’ve overlooked something and will retry. I'll post back in a few days once I’ve looked into it more. Thanks again for the support!
