Hello,

We have a pdf file created in adobe with a textfield that has  property set called “Comb of” that is used to stretch the data to fill the entire width of the text field. After this file is uploaded and signed in Docusign the data in the text field doesn’t stretch like it suppose. Is this something supported?

Adobe text field property:

Before Upload:

After Signing:

Hello @Donelle ,

Welcome to the Docusign Community and thank you for posting your concerns!

To see if I understood correctly, you are uploading a document with an Adobe filled with a type of validation but once it is sent and signed it does not show up as needed or intended, is that right?

Can you try flattening the PDF before uploading to keep the format: How to resolve a document upload error by printing the document to a new PDF

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.

Hi @nathaly.monge ,

I’m not sure about the validation however it is a document that was created in Adobe with certain types of editable fields that have options that Adobe recognizes. After the document has been uploaded to Docusign and it has been signed in Docusign, the document that is sent to our registered webhook (the signed version) the example above is what is received.

Our documents have fields that we convert into tabs programmatically so that Docusign can locate as tabs and If we flatten the document prior to uploading via API will Docusign still be able to find them? Also, for some documents the fields are editable during signing so will flattening also break this functionality as well?

Hello @Donelle ,

Thank you for reaching back.

Once a PDF is flatten Docusign will not recognize the fields that were added via Adobe, however, as Docusign does not have something similar to “Combs of” it will convert it to a single text field resulting in the outcome shown in the image you provided.

You would either add the “Combs of” to your PDF, flatten it and then add the fields that need to be converted to Docusign fields to keep the needed formatting or remove the “Combs of” entirely and replace it with separate text fields so that it can keep a formatting as close as possible to what you are looking for.

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.
