What are the valid phone number formats for requesting SMS authentication?

We are working on a solution that will get a mobile phone number from the user and pass it to DocuSign for sending an SMS validation code to. We would like to enforce the validation for the phone number, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on what the acceptable phone number formats are for DocuSign (e.g. with parentheses or not, dashes or not, country code or not etc).

Does anyone know where this information exists?

Hi, Welcome to the DocuSign Support Community!

From the (https://support.docusign.com/guides/ndse-user-guide-recipient-authentication) Recipient Identity Authentication guide:

  • SMS: This method requires the recipient receive an SMS text message at a specified phone number. The text message contains an access code, which the recipient must enter in order to view your document. The recipient has three chances to enter the code correctly. When you select SMS authentication, you provide the phone number for the recipient. The number must be able to receive SMS text messages. To enter the phone number, you select the country code from the drop-down list and then enter the complete phone number, including the area code.

Limits: The phone number can contain space, dashes, and parentheses. If you have further questions, please let us know.

Thank you.
