Hi all,

we need a valid QES signature chain and now there is additionally a DocuSign sinature on the document which we don’t see. This can’t be verified (see below) and we are scared that the signature chain is not valid for signing a contract. There QES is strictly required.

Did someone have a similar problem?

Hi @Schedldo,

Welcome to the Docusign Community!

We are glad to have you here and can't wait to help share as much knowledge as possible.

I am sorry to hear that this signature was not included in your signature chain, but I will help correct the issue for future transactions.

In most legal contexts, a simple “electronic signature” will not be considered valid, as this signature workflow doesn’t prove the recipient’s identity.

For most high-value transactions, you will be required to use an Advanced or Qualified Electronic Signature, which includes an extra recipient verification step. These signature types will be available to the sender during the “Add recipients” step of the envelope creation process. If the option to pick one of these signature types is not present, your account might not have access to the feature.

Hi, I have the same issue
we have a certified QES signature from the person who needed to sign the document but DocuSign added an additional automated signature that prevents the authority that needs to countersign the document from doing so
On top of that it’s not allowed to add the counter signer to the list of recipients.
what needs to be done to either remove this docusign signature or have a certificate for that second signature

Hi @Reinhild,

Thank you for following up.

In the scenario that you might need to add a recipient to a completed envelope, the only available option to ensure all signatures will be appropriately captures is recreating the envelope and including all signers needed in its signing order.

As long as a Digital Signature has been selected for each recipient, the signature’s certificate should be valid and available as part of the completed document.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I will address them as soon as possible.
