Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

Yes, you would need to check out the document, please view the following article for more detailed steps:  https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=fsk1642969066834&topicId=jjd1576610033143.html&_LANG=enus

If you believe that you need further assistance, you can create a Customer Support case and a Tech Expert will be able to help. Please click the link below to open a Support case: https://support.docusign.com/en/contactSupport

If you’re not able to open a Customer Support case via the above link, you can scroll down the page to “More Support Options” and select "I can't reset my password or don't have an account." You will have different options to contact Support.

Please click "Select as Best" below if you found the answer to be a valid solution to your issue!

Hi.

Thank you for the quick response. I tested out this feature, and I can check out the document, but upon checking it in, it creates a new version.

I want to be able to check out a document and check it back in without a new version being created.

Hello Megan,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

Unfortunately, no, a new "version" will always be created, however, this is to track the times a document has been edited, to compare it to previous versions of the documents, and so on.

Thank you. I will submit a Support ticket for a Product Enhancement request. Business use case is that you may not be done editing a version so are not ready for it to be saved as a new version and would have to pull it out of the system if you need to take a break from working on it, otherwise the amount of versions could grow to an unreasonable proportion.
