Once my client has signed and I have downloaded the document is it possible to delete the envelope without emailing the client. This only confuses my clients.

I assume you want to delete the envelope after it has been fully signed and is in the status Completed?
When you click “Delete”, it will only hide the envelope from your own view. There is no email notification to your client, so there won’t be any confusion. Only when the envelope is not fully signed, it will send out an email notification that the envelope has been voided and it no longer valid.
When you “Purge” an envelope to remove it from DocuSign eSignature, all recipients with an account will be notified to have a chance to download the completed envelope before it is removed.
